Baluran National Park
About Baluran National Park
Known as 'Africa van Java' for its open savanna landscapes and large herds of banteng (wild cattle), deer, peacocks, and — if you're early enough — leopard cat sightings. The Bekol savanna viewpoint at sunrise is one of the most underrated wildlife experiences in Java.
Getting to Baluran National Park
45-minute drive north of Banyuwangi town on the main Situbondo highway. The park gate is at Wonorejo village. Jeep hire inside the park is recommended for reaching the Bekol field.
